Letters from Our Readers, Insieme No. 23

Insieme exists because we want to hear from you. Children and adults alike are warmly invited to share—through letters, drawings, and personal stories—what faith and community mean to you.

My Life

I can only use my right hand, and even that takes effort, but with a circular tablet attached to my table, I'm able to do needlework in half-stitch. When I finish each piece, I have it framed. My great hope is that one day, when I've completed enough work, I'll be able to hold a small exhibition of my own.
Right now I'm in a wheelchair, but my spirit stays cheerful. My parents gave me tremendous strength of will to overcome the obstacles we face in life—especially when society doesn't understand us.
Since I've come to know Fede e Luce, I'm deeply grateful. I've met so many wonderful young people, and when we're together as a family, we support each other emotionally and physically. I pray that God will let this family grow and grow.
Nadia Monti (Milan)

For Fede e Luce

Dear friends, these words are for all of you in Fede e Luce—you who, through your love and your help, have brought happiness to so many and given back the joy of living to so many families.
I want to thank you, Guenda, for the kindness you show with just a glance, and you, Donatella, and everyone else, even if I can't remember all your names.
Thank you too, because knowing you has taught me that to receive, we must give generously. Every time I look into your peaceful eyes, I understand that we can accomplish so much in this world, and it takes so little to be happy—just giving a bit of ourselves each day to those who need it.
Gianna S. (Rome)

From Belgium

Our communities are walking forward in faith and trust toward our Easter gathering in 1980 and 1981. A great energy fills our region: we truly want to meet together, and I believe this is the desire of all the groups in our areas.
We invite you with all our hearts—but whether we are here or far away, it changes nothing about our common bond in Fede e Luce, our exchanges, our hopes.
We pray for all your intentions and for all the communities, so that together we may encounter "the other" more fully, and above all, so that we may encounter the Lord and his Good News more deeply.
Our Easter gathering focuses especially on bringing together parents and young people. I believe we will make it happen. The young people encourage us.
We send our love to all our friends: with all our hearts, we cry alleluia in the joy and peace of Jesus and Mary.
Frère Muthieu - Lisogne

From Milan

One day we were all together for three days, and those three days felt as though God was with us, because we came together with such simplicity and loyalty, united in hearts as open as hearts can be.
Dear brothers and sisters, you came from far away to know us. You gave us hearts bigger than before.
Luigi Raffaghello (Milan)

From the Parish of San Giuseppe della Pace

We are grateful to the Fede e Luce group for helping us wake up to our own indifference, our selfishness, our distance. You have shown us a true example of simplicity, of care for one another, of trust, hope, joy, and love.
