I Jump So High

A review of Iacopo Melio's book.
I Jump So High

Iacopo Melio, awarded the Medal of Knight of the Republic by President Mattarella, was born with a rare genetic syndrome marked by wildly varied symptoms. Doctors predicted a short life for him. Instead, at twenty-six, he writes books and launches campaigns that shape political decisions. I Jump So High is the story of a young man like any other—full of plans and hope. Through simple, ironic language, Melio urges us not to surrender in the face of hardship, but to transform apparent condemnations into launching points for rebirth. In his closing thanks, he writes: "Gratitude to those who, in the midst of the storm, will never stop searching for the rainbow." In his books and civic work, Melio always stands with the most vulnerable, dismantling categories and prejudice. His is a book in defense of the freedom to be yourself, honoring the uniqueness of each person and rejecting the idea that being "normal" means we must all be the same.
