My name is Elisabetta, I'm 13 years old, and I have a handicapped brother who is 16. His name is David. I think my brother has shaped who I am—I'm shy and quiet because of him.
I love David very much, but I won't pretend I didn't wish he were normal. Then again, maybe I wouldn't be the same person, and I wouldn't understand so many things. I've learned what it's like for families like mine—how hard it is to find people willing to help.
At Fede e Luce, especially in my group, I found those people. But after our monthly meeting ends, I never see them again. I think it shouldn't stop there. We should keep seeing each other now and then.
