Wherever I Am, He Is Too

My dog's name is Aci, and we've been together for ten years. I love him deeply—he's my life, my strength. He pushes me forward in everything I do, helps me with everything, and with him I can do so many things. We got him as a puppy from a breeder near Milan when he was forty-five days old, and we've basically grown up together. I hope we'll go on like this for many years more. He gives me the strength to keep going; wherever I am, he is too. Aci is my shadow, my guardian. We used to take long walks together, but now that he's ten, I don't tire him out—we take the bus instead. A dog really is man's best friend. He's loyal. When I'm home, I take care of his food and his needs. Now and then we take him to a groomer. He brings me joy. He can't speak, but he makes himself understood. It's work having a dog, but then he gives you so much back. When I come home he celebrates, we cuddle each other, and he repays me for everything. He gives me peace, and he's a real playful spirit. Aci, thank you for everything. Because of you I've overcome so many fears and worries that weighed on me.
