Archival content: this article was published more than 20 years ago. The language and content reflect the sensitivities of the time.

If she speaks her mind, she's making a scene.

If she doesn't, she doesn't care about anything.

If she raises her voice, she's yelling.

If she speaks normally, nobody listens.

If she leaves the house, she's always on vacation.

If she never goes out, she has nothing else to do.

If she goes out for errands, she's neglecting the home.

If she stays home, she can only think about housework.

If she talks about money, it means she loves it too much.

If she never mentions it, nobody knows where it goes.

If she organizes things, she wears everyone out.

If she doesn't organize, the house is a disaster.

If she works slowly, nothing ever gets done.

If she hurries, she's too anxious.

If she puts dinner on the table on time, her clock is fast.

If lunch is one minute late, she's held everyone up.

If she cooks for four, there are ten at the table.

If she cooks for ten, she eats alone.

If she does home repairs, she has nothing better to do.

If she does nothing, she lets the house fall apart.

If she makes phone calls, she talks too long.

If she needs to call someone, she has to wait her turn.

If she's young, she lacks experience.

If she's old, she's past her prime.
