Cari amici, as many of you may know, in the heart of central Rome there is an important trattoria run by the Sant'Egidio Community, called La Trattoria de Gli Amici.
It stands as a model for workplaces everywhere: its staff brings together people with disabilities and people without disabilities, working side by side. You'll find it at Piazza Sant'Egidio 6, in Rome's Trastevere neighborhood.
The Sant'Egidio Community launched this initiative to train people with disabilities and help them enter the workforce.
Today it remains Rome's only restaurant where the staff is genuinely mixed. There is still much work to be done to ensure that people with disabilities enjoy the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
