This book offers an extraordinary testimony to the effort and achievements of the international L'Arche movement (55 foyers in 1981). Throughout, it is written with a warmth, honesty, and humility that one wishes to find in all books and texts about adults with mental disabilities and their need for an authentically human and Christian life. Composed by multiple authors, the text guides us through different roads and experiences toward what remains a mystery illuminated by faith and love. Living together fraternally—people with disabilities alongside those called "normal," in genuine alliance and mutual respect—emerges as something profoundly desirable. And it is possible; indeed, by God's grace, it happens in various places around the world.
