Tandem in Trentino

Andrea's summer adventure, told in his own words

In July I went to Trentino with friends from school on a tandem bike.

Angelo came with us — he's my PE teacher

and I really like him.

My mom came too,

but Angelo is the one who steers the tandem

because my mom is too short.

If I sit in front

she can't see the road

because I'm tall.

We took a bus

and all our bikes

were on a trailer attached to the back.

Every day we rode on bike paths

and every night we slept somewhere new

with our sleeping bags and pads.

One night we slept outside under the stars.

At first I didn't want to — I was scared —

but it turned out to be really nice!

One day we rode down this really long hill

and we went so fast!

I love going fast.

One day we took the train with our bikes

and went rafting.

It was my first time rafting:

it was an adventure, and when I came in

with our raft

everyone clapped because I had been brave.

One day it rained so much

we all got soaked!

I got tired that week

but I also had so much fun!
