In Syracuse, a coalition of organizations and associations came together to purchase accessible sports equipment for disabled athletes.
Syracuse Community Raises Funds for Accessible Sports Equipment

A group of civic and professional organizations in Syracuse has raised funds to purchase sports equipment for the Cittadella dello Sport, making the facility more accessible to people with disabilities and expanding the range of athletic programs available to the community. The Circolo Canottieri Ortigia announced the initiative.
The equipment acquired includes: two state-of-the-art mechanical pool lifts for people with motor disabilities; basketball hoops for Baskin (a wheelchair-accessible variant of basketball); and gear for Sitting Volley (seated volleyball).

The fundraising effort was supported by:

- Order of Accountants
- Assostampa Syracuse
- Father Aurelio Russo – Rector of the Sanctuary of Madonna of the Tears
- National Association of Construction Builders
- Student Council
- Sicily Tourism for All Association
- Mario Leone – Dermatologist
