Summer Camp for Disabled People Launches in Eboli: Nature, Sport, and Culture

The 2019 Summer Camp for People with Disabilities has launched under the Social Plan for Zone S3, with Eboli as the lead municipality and in partnership with the Pro Handicap Association "We Too". This year's theme is "Sport – Nature – Culture," unfolding over 21 days of activities. The seaside camp runs for nine days total at the "Beach for All" beach club in Eboli and the Hotel Sabbiadoro, in residential format.

The mountain camp's first phase took place September 2–6 with excursions to Madonna di Avigliana and Casone della Cerreta, the WWF preserve at Persano, and Ermice in Eboli.

«It's an ambitious program,» explains Massimo Cariello, mayor of Eboli and president of the institutional coordination for Social Plan S3. «We've planned visits, social activities, shared meals, and inclusive sports. This is more than a camp—it's a complete socialization project and concrete inclusion in action

A mini basketball tournament is scheduled in collaboration with My Life Project – Center for Independent Living and Eboli Basketball. The finals will take place Saturday, September 28 in Quadrivio di Campagna as part of the Camp Closing Celebration, coinciding with the feast of Saint Michael.

«The 2019 camp shows what serious planning can do: it answers the needs of vulnerable people by bringing together institutions, families, and the nonprofit sector,» says Carmine Busillo, municipal commissioner for social policy. «It's not just beaches and mountains—it's a full range of social and cultural offerings

From September 16–20, the mountain camp's second phase focuses on culture, with visits to the Museum and Archaeological Park of Paestum, the Alento River Preserve, the Archaeological Museum of Eboli, Ancient Kilns, and the Memory Museum. All cultural experiences are adapted to meet diverse needs, developed in partnership with Cilento4all. There will also be a day with the "Le Cirque" Association to revive traditional games, redesigned using Universal Design principles.

«Supporting social policy,» notes Vincenzo Marchesano, president of the municipal commission, «happens through programs like this one. The Social Plan Zone brings it to life. This administration put social policy at the heart of its work, and the camp project proves it.» Elena Ricciardi, president of the Pro Handicap Association, elaborates: «We've woven all camp activities together with a single vision, bringing in organizations focused on culture, sports, recreation, and community life. Our goal is concrete activities that foster personal and social growth for everyone involved
