School's Off to a Great Start

A new school building, new streets to walk, and a favorite bar for breakfast. From Benedetta's blog.
School's Off to a Great Start

School is off to a great start! I began on Monday, September 14th at 8:30. Since I'm in my third year of hospitality school and chose the reception track, they moved me to a different campus. I don't go to via dei Genovesi anymore—now it's via della Paglia. They told me I have to enter from the back, through vicolo del Cedro, which is a tiny street, really beautiful, with lots of greenery. I love walking there. Near it is via del Leopardo, which has a name I really like for a street.

I think the school on via della Paglia is better than via dei Genovesi. It's smaller and the stairs are nicer and I climb them better because they're easier. My class, 3A, is on the second floor, right at the top of the stairs on the left. I chose my desk myself—it's by the wall. In my class there are eight students from last year and I'm really happy they're with me. I've met the new students too. They're almost all girls and they're nice. The teachers from last year came to visit me in class and two of them called me on my cell phone and I was so happy.

On Monday, the first day, I put on a mask but I didn't want them to take my temperature at the entrance. I don't like when they put that thing on my forehead. But then I had it done anyway. Right now we don't have that many hours at school. But soon we'll have more hours, in a few days.

The class is split into two groups. One day one group comes and another day the other group comes. But I can go every day. I do that because I got tired of staying home and I like being in class instead of doing video lessons on the computer. I can do them sometimes but not all the time. For now Mom drives me to school in the car. We get there quickly—Trastevere isn't far from my house. But I want to come to school on my own and go back home on my own. I know the way well anyway because I'm always going to restaurants in Trastevere at night. I found a really nice bar at piazza San Cosimato, right near school. I saw more than ten bars. Maybe I'll change which one. They all have little tables outside and I can sit and be comfortable in the open air. But when it gets cold, at Christmas, I'll have breakfast inside the bar.

I'm really happy that I'm finally going to school. I told everyone, even Mattarella, that they couldn't keep it closed. Now I want the gym to open again too, and sports and my choir.
