Among those who guided Ombre e Luci from a mimeographed newsletter into a quarterly magazine, none was more essential—or more quietly so—than Sergio Sciascia, its editor-in-chief. With this issue, he passes the role to Giulia Galeotti. We owe him profound gratitude for the trust he has shown us, his openness to dialogue, and the care he took to keep us grounded in his professional judgment. We are certain he has no intention of retreating into a private life: he will follow with passion and curiosity every project we undertake, every person we meet. Our thanks as well to Giulia, who steps into this role having already collaborated with us before. Her column Viola e Mimosa makes way this issue for two remarkable voices who will share, from their own singular perspectives, pieces of their lives and thoughts. We thank Giovanni Grossi and Benedetta Mattei for joining us. Our new design aims to hold and tell the stories and struggles we share here with greater clarity. In this issue, we address the lengthening of life—a triumph and a challenge that demands our careful attention, especially for those with intellectual disabilities who face the loss of services that have supported them until age sixty-five, often at heightened risk of cognitive decline. We also introduce a new archive section: a collection of articles from our years of publication that seemed worth revisiting. Please share your thoughts with us.
