Marymount
The article "Marymount, Weeks in the Sun" particularly caught my attention. Since I was small, I've gone there every summer with my brother Emanuele (mongoloid) to Marymount: a summer stay open to anyone willing to express, without prejudice, their love for others and their joy in living. The article captures beautifully the atmosphere that grows among the people who take part. It's true—each year I've been paired with a handicapped boy, and I've tried to do with him whatever he was most able to do: play ball, jump rope, swim in the pool, dance if he had a lively character; draw, sew, work with papier-mâché or clay, if he was the quieter type. I can say I grew up at Marymount: as a little girl I played... played... played, in an atmosphere full of joy, and then gradually I began to offer my small contribution with an ever-growing sense of responsibility. This year I wasn't able to come to the "weeks in the sun" (I was taking my high school exams during that time); I was terribly disappointed, and I'm waiting eagerly for summer... or the next monthly gathering at Marymount.

More Than Words
I've always admired the beautiful photographs in Ombre e Luci—they make this magazine all the more attractive. I loved the cover with the photo of Clelia's first communion. A beautiful and fitting photograph can really say more than words. Such joy on the expressive face of this little girl at her first meeting with Jesus in the Eucharist. I keep it in plain sight on my desk, and it reminds me of so many joyful and tender moments I've lived with Stephen, despite the suffering and difficulties.
