A Poem by Claudio Moriggia
With
plants
in the soil
I smile
in a
flash!
We are
always in
freedom and
peace will return!
Time and Money Wasted
On the subject of work (we discussed it in issue 155), a mother wrote to us about her doubts regarding her daughter's training experience.
Simona did an internship at a cafeteria about fifteen years ago. She woke up very early, and they seemed enthusiastic about her. At the end of the period, in June, they gave her a uniform in what felt almost like a promise that they'd put her on the payroll. I had pushed her hard to go to work even when she wasn't quite herself, trying in every way to get her excited about it. And she was very happy. Then in September, they all vanished! I had sent her to work seriously, not to waste time. But none of the kids in her group got hired. So much money thrown away!
If you ask me, these programs are only motivated by getting a paycheck for the staff. If my daughter really weren't capable, I'd understand that, truly. But so many pointless meetings and conversations with no hope at all — and so many people, frankly not very sharp, who stopped in their tracks at the first sign of hesitation from Simona rather than push forward with a real job training path. But I know my daughter. I know she needs to be encouraged! Unfortunately, no one listened to me.
