Michela's Gift

I'm writing to you as a longtime subscriber who stepped away for a while but has decided to come back. I'm not even sure why—but suddenly, thinking of my daughter Michela, I felt the urge to reach out. Michela taught me so much. Far more than I ever imagined, and certainly more than I could ever teach her. She helped out at my salon—I'm a hairdresser—and was always there, so much so that my clients started calling her Michelavoro, "Michela-the-worker." It was hard to let her go, but I live in the joy of what she gave me: a testimony to the light that guides me every day. I'd never shared her story with you before, but I'm glad I'm doing it now. My warm regards.

Lombardy's Year Begins

The Fede e Luce Lombardy group gathered on October 13th to celebrate their new year at the parish of Maria Madre della Chiesa in Gratosoglio. The Gospel came alive through mime performed by the Ponte Lambro group. The Cesano Boscone group prepared and carried forward the offertory, explaining each gesture. The Mass was felt deeply, joined fully by everyone. We ended with our community song—the one that represents us, unites us, and draws in anyone hearing it for the first time (they mimic the gestures!). The Cesenatico group performed the story of the seven dwarfs, from Grumpy to Sleepy, each with a different character—one more cantankerous, others gentle and needing care. We hope that communities of Fede e Luce will spring up in every part of the world. Thank you, Jean Vanier, for creating this wonderful movement. May you infect us all with joy from heaven. Our celebration continues under our motto: "Catch the Joy"—lived out that day as we thanked Jesus and Mary, who were at the heart of our feast. The Gratosoglio group would like to thank all who took part in making this remarkable and beautifully successful celebration possible.
