Not every child with a disability is like Massimiliano, the son at the heart of this testimony. Parents raising children with different disabilities—ones more difficult to bear—should keep that in mind above all.

It is a story grounded in realism, tenderness, and courage: virtues that belong to many mothers, though not to all.

We recommend it because it may offer some parents the peace of mind that, as the author writes, "is necessary in order to see the world no longer only through our own eyes, through our own desires projected toward overcoming obstacles we never imagined we would have to face, but through the eyes and the heart of our children."
