A illustrated booklet with photographs and practical guidance, introducing deaf and hard-of-hearing children to the public—who they are and what they can expect from all of us. The photographs are moving in their honesty; the advice is useful and, I would say, essential for avoiding the mistakes we all too easily make and for helping deaf and hard-of-hearing children open up and grow like any other child.
It would be genuinely worthwhile for this booklet to circulate widely in schools, where deaf and hard-of-hearing children are often found but where there is an even greater need to teach children from the earliest grades how to treat those with hearing loss with respect and understanding.
