Ombre e Luci Reviews
Archival content: this article was published more than 30 years ago. The language and content reflect the sensitivities of the time.
This issue features a longer reading list than usual, for two reasons:
— we hope you'll receive this issue at the start of summer vacation, when it's good to gather a few books for the season, making the well-deserved rest truly fruitful;
— the selection is varied. The first three are easy reads, accessible to everyone, suited in places to be read aloud to disabled children, with encouraging content: they pull you forward with an open heart; sometimes it does good to follow the path of hope walked by others in hard circumstances; you learn not to dwell too much on your own pain, but to open yourself to sharing.

Group Leadership for Ages 11 to 15

Pierre Bourdoncle (ed.) - LDC - 1988
This book offers techniques, ideas, examples, reflections, worksheets, and inspiration for leading and coordinating a group where people want to be together, play, get to know each other, do things, and feel they matter.
We recommend it to anyone looking for fresh ideas, to renew their toolkit and their "professional skill" in service to others.

Group Leadership (Building Cohesion and Nonviolent Action)

Martin Jelfs - LDC - 1988
A book born from real experience. The English author works in the nonviolence movement; he gathered these techniques to help a group leader build cohesion and create the right dynamics to serve the cause of nonviolence.
It can serve as a manual for anyone—whether new to group work or experienced—who wants to deepen and better practice their role in the complex setting of a group made up of both nondisabled and disabled people of different ages and backgrounds.
