Lavagna Opens Accessible Beach for People with Disabilities

The municipality of Lavagna has inaugurated a public beach accessible to disabled visitors along the Tigullio Park waterfront.

Mayor Gian Alberto Mangiante has established a partnership with Villaggio del Ragazzo and Anffas Tigullio Est Onlus. Drawing on their expertise in running hospitality services designed to support people with mobility and sensory disabilities, both organizations will staff the beach with trained personnel to assist non-independent visitors and people with disabilities, and help them use the available equipment. The municipality currently provides two beach ramps, five plastic modular platforms for standing, four director's chairs, four raised loungers, a sand and sea chair, umbrellas, and a portable toilet. Additional equipment is on order.

The Mayor expressed satisfaction at having opened the beach «so quickly, addressing a crucial need for the town».

The beach will be staffed and open daily through September 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The administration also thanks NoiHandiamo Association «for its tireless work creating activities and environments accessible to people living with disability or reduced mobility».
