I like going to school, but it's getting harder to follow along because not all the teachers are there and some of my classmates are gone too, and that really bothers me. They're on Erasmus exchanges. But maybe they'll come back—that's what they told me. I especially miss Lorenzo and Joelle.
We voted for class representatives, and Chiara and Alessandro won. They're both really good. When they were reading the names from the slips of paper, I spoke up and said the name of a classmate I like. Even though he wasn't supposed to get a vote. Everyone started laughing.
School is always fun. After COVID, they're finally reopening our workshops. We haven't done workshops in forever. We were supposed to do a project outside school too, but they say we can't because of COVID. Everyone keeps saying there's COVID and you can't ever do anything right anymore.
Besides school, I have a great time doing sports. I was really happy when I went to Castelporziano for the track meet. I love it so much. I even ran a lap of the track, but then I was so exhausted that I just collapsed and didn't want to get back up. I wanted to stop running, but everyone was clapping and shouting, "Come on Benedetta, you've got this, Benedetta!" So I made it all the way to the finish line. I was drenched in sweat. They gave me cold water to drink and poured some over my head too. I was soaked.
I had so much fun cheering everyone on, especially the athletes from Athletica Vaticana and my friend Sara Vargetto, who did a lap of the track in her wheelchair all by herself. She was amazing.
It's so cool to watch people running fast, jumping, throwing the javelin. The pole vault is beautiful, and my friend Sonia is really good at it. I'd like to try pole vault too, and Sonia said she'd teach me, but we'd start with small jumps. Otherwise I'm scared.
After the races ended, we had dinner right there on the track and I had two plates of pasta with tomato sauce. It was so good. I also had chocolate and whipped cream ice cream. I didn't eat the skewers with potatoes because I wasn't in the mood.
I took photos with my friends and classmates who won medals. They were so good. I want to go to the Olympics too because there are so many new people I don't know.
