How are we doing? How is our society faring in the years since the pandemic? Marco Rovelli's inquiry runs deep and wide, taking us through the mental struggles—old and new—that mark the Italian population. What emerges is a portrait both bleak and radiant. There are the political failures, the privatization dismantling Italian healthcare, the over-medication and abuse of drugs that (in practice) are erasing Basaglia's revolution, the cult of victory and strength spreading unchecked. But there are also those who refuse to hide their difficulties or suffering; there are individuals, organizations, doctors and families able to face the complexity of what is real. They know that among the answers, one is crucial: "we." And with that "we," and toward it, they move forward.
