I Decided. Me, Myself

Autumn dispatches from Benedetta's blog.
I Decided. Me, Myself

I don't want to talk about my beach vacation. I just don't. Period. Everyone keeps asking me, "Benedetta, what did you do at the beach?" But I'm not answering. I don't want to. How many ways do I have to say it? Look, here in Rome I made the decision to do video calls on my phone. At 2. I decided. Me, myself. Done. And I don't want to hear anything stupid about it.

School is going well. I like everything about it. Even the classroom upstairs is nice. I like having breakfast at the bar in Piazza San Cosimato. I see my teachers and classmates there too. And we have fun because we joke around while we eat. The new teachers are all nice and good at what they do. I'm doing really well and I'm very happy. Before, when we had free periods and not all the teachers were around, I'd fall asleep at my desk. And they'd let me sleep in peace.

Now I'm back at the gym doing rhythmic gymnastics with my teacher Camilla. The gym is close to home and I go by myself on Wednesdays and Fridays at five. There aren't many of us because they set up different time slots. I also started playing soccer with AS Roma on Thursdays and Saturdays, even though I hate having to put on and take off my mask all the time. On Thursdays I also go to the White Hands Choir in Testaccio and I can't sing with a mask on. But I have so much fun. Then on Tuesday afternoons I go to the Club and we walk around Rome with our masks on. Before, we used to take the bus and the metro or walk. And we talk a lot.

I also go for walks along Viale Marconi and buy shirts and pants. I do the shopping at Conad too. But I'm smart about it. I write everything down on a piece of paper and then I give the paper to my friends who work at Conad—they wear uniforms so you can always recognize them—and they fill up the cart. I watch them and then I pay at the register. They put everything in the bag and I go home with it.

I always want to eat dinner at a restaurant. Near my house, so we don't need the car. There are three places I really like. They make really good supplì. I always get two. Then I get pasta or pizza. It depends. I always decide at the last minute. But almost always pasta.
