The cover art says it well: INSIEME—like Faith and Light itself—is an open chain.
Open, and one that wants to reach ever outward to more brothers and sisters, more families, in small villages and large cities across Italy.
We cannot meet everyone. We cannot plant small communities everywhere tomorrow. But we can reach many more people than we do now—not 800, but far more. And not only those already part of Faith and Light, but people beyond it too.
For this reason, we believe it would be wise to launch a Christian magazine with broader circulation. It would carry the spirit of Faith and Light, but also offer information about what is being done in Italy—with or on behalf of people with handicaps.
Such as:
- centers and schools
- residential communities
- leisure time and holidays
- religious education
- education
- and more
For this magazine, we can draw from "Ombres et Lumière"—adapting, translating, and reshaping articles and ideas to fit the Italian context. That publication is directed by Marie Hélène Mathieu.
We believe the title "Ombre e Luci" would serve us well. (INSIEME can no longer be used; it has been claimed by an Italian weekly.)
The old newsletter could be replaced by a "Letter"—a bulletin to link Faith and Light communities across Italy and the world.
That is our proposal. To you, dear readers and subscribers of Insieme—whether or not you are part of Faith and Light—we ask that you share your thoughts as soon as you can. Please let us know, too, if you are willing to work actively and concretely to make this ambitious project a reality. We are certain it will answer a need, spoken or silent, that many people still living in isolation are waiting for.
