God Loves Me as I Am — Book Review
Archival content: this article was published more than 20 years ago. The language and content reflect the sensitivities of the time.

Marie-Hélène Mathieu, co-founder with Jean Vanier of Faith and Light International, directed for decades both the O.C.H. (Office Chrétien Handicapés) and the journal that gave birth to Shadows and Light, "Ombres et Lumière." Many of us know her expertise, the care and gentleness she brings to every question facing people with disabilities.

This is her second book published in Italy, drawn from editorials she wrote for the magazine over many years. Each chapter poses a question, offers a testimony, unravels a knot, or eases a wound. In her words there is always a clear and luminous answer. The chapters link together like a red thread, teaching us to face problems that often seem insurmountable.

Marie-Hélène Mathieu's deep faith—witnessed by decades of work and compassion—passes to us as we read. It moves us. It gives us courage.

We invite our readers to open this book, where experience and faith together offer concrete proposals and the hope we so urgently need.
