A new year has begun—2011.
A year of tremendous importance for all of us in the Faith and Light family. We are called to live and celebrate our fortieth anniversary, to be messengers of joy today...
With great joy and anticipation, I await the pilgrimage that our Province, "Seas and Volcanoes," will undertake next June. I cannot wait to share this precious, unique moment with the communities and brothers and sisters from Poland and Slovenia.

This pilgrimage of the Kimata province with Greece and Cyprus reminds us who we are and the path we have taken to become who we are—more aware of what we have discovered. It reminds us that human dignity concerns all of us: friends, parents, young people. It speaks to our right to have a proper place in society and to have a privileged place in the heart of the Church. To take time to depart on pilgrimage is a way to look back at our past, at what we have lived, as we prepare the pilgrim's baggage. But it is also a way to ask for something.
We ask that what has held us together until now—what has made us grow, laugh, cry, organize meetings and prayers; what has shown us that we have families so large we never feel alone—we ask that all of this be renewed once more.

With Moses we crossed the desert and discovered that, just when we think we cannot overcome our thirst and obstacles, the Lord reaches us and lifts us on eagle's wings to walk with him again. Some groups, after so many years, struggle to recover the meaning of our gathering in Faith and Light. Others recognize the beauty of the friendship that binds us but keep their distance from the movement. Still others are going through a difficult time. We prepare ourselves to bring joy to the young people of the Diocese of Loreto and to celebrate forty years of Faith and Light with friends from Galilee, Ukraine, and Croatia. We come to lay before the Lord the weariness of so many parents, the sufferings of many young people, the struggles of some friends. But we want to celebrate together.
