Crotone Launches Experimental Beach Access Program for People with Disabilities

This summer, the City of Crotone will launch an experimental assistance program for people with disabilities, designed to enable them to use a specially equipped municipal beach. The announcement comes from Alessia Romano, the city's Social Policy Assessor (pictured above).

"Our vision as an administration is that no one feels left out," Romano explains. "Summer is when people with physical disabilities most acutely feel isolation. We want summer—a season that is traditionally joyful—to be genuinely festive for everyone. That's why, working closely with our director of social services and our departmental staff, we're proposing this experimental program as a genuine act of inclusion."

The city has published a notice to assess interest among potential beneficiaries, so it can properly plan the intervention within its broader program of sports, recreational, and rehabilitative activities for people with disabilities.

Families with members who have disabilities are invited to express their interest in the beach assistance service at the equipped municipal beach. Applications can be submitted to the City's administrative office by 1 p.m. on May 25. The notice is published on the City of Crotone's official website.
