Another beautiful gathering in Assisi. I wanted to add some personal reflections before we move on. The emotion of seeing so many friends again—people you only run into at moments like this—was indescribable. For a moment we could embrace, and in that embrace taste again something lived that needs no words to explain it. I should give a proper greeting to everyone, but twenty sticker albums wouldn't be enough. I think of my friends from Milan: Giovanna (thank you for being here), Chicca, Marta, Paolo and Nives Fausto. All those I haven't seen in ages. I'm going in circles. I'll forget someone, but it was good to find them again (many I saw last in Turin and won't name them here). Then Mondovì, Francesca and her family. Then the Veneto, Roberto. Not just with Angelo. Then Maurizio from Naples, always a joy to see. Vanna, TVB, Madia, Giulia, Rosita. And Mazara with Enza and all the memories of a piece of summer. The families of Carlo and Paolo. Last, Kimata, my home in Avenza, in Parma and Fidenza. Conversations with Father Theodoros and the unconditional love of my friends in Cyprus. The communities of Rome that I feel and see whenever I can. In short: a jumble of faces, memories, sensations. I've aged a bit and these memories move me. I was nineteen years old when they brought me to Cuneo for a national gathering, and it was unforgettable. So if it turns out well to meet people with whom you then find yourself traveling and having traveled so much together, it was worth it. Forty years of history. Some have gone. But many more will come. It's a long road to the summit if you want the rock and roll. But we are children of the stars and we will never stop. Let no one be left alone.
