A vacation is when you have fun and feel good. So when do I feel good? Always. I get angry when Saturday and Sunday come around and I can't go to school. People tell me, "Benedetta, you should be happy because you're on vacation and you don't have to study in class." But I have fun at school. I feel good there. My classmates are nice, and I laugh a lot with them. Some of them are even cute. I feel good with my teachers too. They laugh when I tell them that I'm on vacation when we go to the workshops for front-of-house service, the dining room, and the kitchen. My hospitality school is in Trastevere, and when I leave at two o'clock, I always try not to go straight home—I escape and slip into the restaurants I know. I've become friends with the people who work at three restaurants that make amazing tomato pasta! Most of all, I'm friends with Anna, who's a waitress at "Meo Patacca". But honestly, I love everything I do. I have fun doing it. To me it's all a vacation: running, rhythmic gymnastics, soccer, and the White Hands choir. When I go to the sea, it's even more of a vacation because I change houses, which is fun, and I meet new friends because nobody's from Rome. Camilla, Giulia, and Sofia are from Florence. Rebecca is from Siena. Sara is from Sinalunga. Emma and Matilde are from Cortona. Marco, Letizia, Tommaso, and Stella are from Milan. Elia, my boyfriend, who is really handsome, is from Brescia. For me the real vacation—the real, real vacation—is when I see Elia. He cares about me. He's kind. I tell him I can't get home by myself, so he walks me there. And if I don't see him, I wait for him. That's the best vacation, when I see Elia. I like going to the seaside because in the evening I can sleep at one in the morning and walk around by myself since there are no cars. When I go on a ski vacation, I like it less because it's too cold. I have to wear so many clothes, and the shoes are heavy and pinch my feet. I prefer vacation when I'm at school to vacation in the snow. OL
Always
