For so long I wanted Massimo to receive his first Communion, and I owe it to all of you that I, like every other mother, have known this joy.

I have no words adequate to thank you, but especially you, Robert, for those afternoons you spent with Massimo.

What I felt that day, watching my son receive the Lord just as all the others did—I couldn't begin to put it into words. Only a mother who has lived through it before me, or will live through it, can understand the joy and emotion I felt.

One thing is certain: that day in Assisi will stay alive in my memory and in my heart forever.
